Cutting costs while boosting production has always been a cornerstone of good operations in the oil and gas sector. As the manager of Encana’s Saturn development in the Montney, Katie Anne MacInnis knows this as well as anyone—and she got first-hand experience doing so at an earlier age than most. By the time she was 32, MacInnis was already managing the asset for the company at a time when it was focusing its operations around cost-cutting measures. MacInnis increased the number of stages of fracks in the wells and added higher volumes of sand to the fracks, allowing her to boost production while keeping costs under control.
