There’s no question that solar power is poised to grow in leaps and bounds in Alberta over the coming years. And SkyFire Energy, the solar-electric installer of which David Vonesch is the chief operating officer, is poised to grow with it. SkyFire has already installed roughly 45 percent of Alberta’s total grid-tied solar units and more than 30 percent of British Columbia’s. Vonesch recently led the design and construction of a two-megawatt solar farm east of Calgary, the province’s first utility-scale solar photovoltaic array and the largest system in Western Canada. Vonesch, a professional engineer and photovoltaic technician, also sits as the board chair of SPARK, the first member-owned retail renewable power cooperative in Alberta.
