Looking ahead to our June issue
We're busy putting the final touches on the next AO. Prepare yourself
June is shaping up to be a fantastic month for us here at Alberta Oil. To begin, our team of editors, designers and ad people has earned four nods at this year’s Kenneth R. Wilson awards, which go June 1 in Toronto. The KRWs are sponsored by Canadian Business Press and Magazines Canada, and are fashioned to celebrate excellence in Canadian business press.
Along with Precedent and Salon Magazine, AO is up for Mag of the Year. Our 2009 Top 25 Canadian Infrastructure Projects package, compiled by editor Gordon Jaremko, is in the running for best one-of-a-kind article (read this year’s version here). Gord also got a nod for an article about industry and landowner conflicts he wrote called Peace in the Parkland, while former art director Paige Weir and photographer Colin Way caught judges’ attention with the cover for our Minding the Mackenzie issue.
OK, enough back-slapping and self-congratulation. We’ve got some tasty treats lined up for the June issue of AO:
Look out for our Definitive Guide to Canada’s Oil and Gas Elite, a roundup of the top 100 publicly traded oil and gas firms in Canada. Veteran industry watcher Roger Tissot looks at the divergent paths Venezuela and Colombia have taken to develop their massive resource endowments. We also dig into the Montana Alberta Tie Line, tour the newest Atco Gas operations center in Edmonton, plus find time to visit the Frog Lake First Nation in eastern Alberta, where Frog Lake Energy Resources Corporation is redefining aboriginal involvement in resource extraction.
Thanks for reading.
