Plan to phase out coal use hits provinces differently

Current fuel mixes mean some provinces would take economic hit

The federal government is planning to introduce tough climate change legislation before this December’s climate change conference in Copenhagen, which includes phasing out of coal as an electricity source. This would affect some provinces in Canada disproportionately to others because of current differences in fuel mixes.
