In recent months, the oil sands have been under considerable scrutiny by environmental groups and policy-makers from around the world. The latest in media attention to focus on the Athabasca region and its main industry was an article in the National Geographic that was decried by many Albertans and evoked a response from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP).
